Most people know Disney for its parks and cruise ships. Fewer know about Adventures by Disney: guided small-group trips to destinations all over the world, run with the same attention to detail. We've now taken two, to Peru and to Greece, and I'm already planning the next.
What it is
An Adventures by Disney trip is a fully guided vacation. From the moment you land to the moment you leave, Disney takes care of it all: airport pickup, hotels, transportation between cities, guided tours, most meals, and all the little details you don't even think about in a new country.
Before our Greece trip, I realized that aside from packing, I had nothing left to plan. For someone who plans trips for a living, that was a gift.
The secret: the guides
Every adventure has two guides with you from start to finish, plus local experts along the way. Usually one is from the region and deeply passionate about its history and culture. The other works alongside Disney to keep everything running.
I learned that Disney trains its guides on the "Walt and Roy" approach. Walt was the dreamer and storyteller; his brother Roy made it all happen behind the scenes. On any given day, one guide plays Walt while the other plays Roy, and they switch throughout the trip. The result is seamless: fun and immersive, and incredibly well organized. As a bonus, your guides double as photographers and share their photos with you at the end.
Experiences you couldn't plan yourself
- Peru: whitewater rafting on the Urubamba River, the salt pans of Maras, a visit with alpacas and llamas, and of course, Machu Picchu.
- Greece: the Acropolis before the crowds, painting traditional Greek vases, kayaking and snorkelling over the sunken city of Epidaurus, and a traditional boat tour off Rhodes.
- Giving back: in Peru, our guides sent us to the market to buy food, then introduced us to local women we gifted it to. It was one of the most moving moments of the trip.
They take care of you
On our Peru trip, my husband was still recovering from an injury. Our guides made sure he experienced every part of the trip, including Machu Picchu. The care and planning that went into that was nothing short of amazing.
Is it right for you?
There are family departures, adult-exclusive departures, shorter trips and longer bucket-list itineraries, across Europe, Africa, Asia, the national parks and beyond. Adventures by Disney also offers river cruises, if you love cruising but want to explore somewhere new. Disney often releases early-booking offers for the next year's departures, and the best departures sell out.
If an Adventures by Disney trip has been on your someday list, send me a message through Click & Cruise. I'll tell you everything I've learned and help you find the right one, booked through me of course.
